Hi there, one suggestion from my side is the to register widelands at Bountysource (https://www.bountysource.com/). Bountysource is some sort of crowdfunding service which can be integrated with github (which is not used for widelands for now as far as I know) - but maybe it would help in raising more donations to the widelands development. I don't know if bountysource can be used without github though... Top Quote |

I do not like the idea. bountysource is against my understanding of ethics... For example, a huge team of contributors has build Widelands to the point it is right now. Now we register on bountysource and then people get to vote on new features. Now some greedy newcomer arrives who is not even interested that much in Widelands or its community, but implements foo real quick, grabs the money and leaves again. In fact he built on the work of hundreds of others, but he is the only one to benefit for it. No, I actually prefer Widelands to be slow paced in development, but driven by real dedication and support for the project. Top Quote |

Thanks for thinking about helping us with funding, but I agree with SirVer on this point. I'd rather have somebody hit the Donate button for our webserver costs Busy indexing nil values Top Quote |

Now, I'm not a staffer or anything, but I agree with SirVer and GunChleoc; Widelands is deliberately created for free and should stay that way. Top Quote |

Hey there, thats fine for me - it was just a suggestion which would allow me to donate some money to the features I'd like to see the most (like an extended campaign ;-)). But I'll just go ahead and donate some money for the servers Top Quote |

If you have some time, you can also contribute yourself. Lua (the scripting language we use) is very easy to learn. There are some pages in the Wiki on how to do that.

I guess the scripting language would not be an issue but it's more the time that is missing ;-( Edited: 2015-02-03, 08:47

Just saw that 1.0 was released this year which is very great!!! I wanted to donate some money to the project but looks that the donate button is gone (or it is somehow blocked by my browser). Is there still a way to donate? Top Quote |
