Hi, I just failed to upload a map with: "The map file could not be processed." I can open it in a game, so the file itself is probably OK. Top Quote |

There are two ways:
I should do the first point months ago, but I didn't (sorry). But I did the second one. If you want, I can share the map on my server space. EDIT: https://bugs.launchpad.net/widelands-website/+bug/1468242 Edited: 2015-06-24, 10:43

I was not aware that uploading of maps was broken, so 1. would have been appreciated. It seems the problem is that the widelands version installed on the server is just too old. The rollout of a fix is a bit involved though: Right now the server runs on a virtual machine that is pinned to one ubuntu version. A simple version update is not possible, since the kernel has to be patched specifically for the virtual machines environment. We need the update though, because we do not have a widelands PPA for ubuntu releases this old. We do not even build on these versions anymore - since the compilers are too old. The only option Strato offers is to completely reinstall the server with a new ubuntu version. I can do that, I think it will require at least 10h and the website will not be available for this timeslot. So I should make it in a weekend, so that the site is not down for too long. I hope to get around to it next weekend. Top Quote |

Hey! Tibor asked me to share the file on my server space, so here it is: http://student.agh.edu.pl/~rak/widelands/files/Maps/Lost_Islands.wmf So both maps which can't be shared with you on Widelands server, are available on my site here: http://student.agh.edu.pl/~rak/widelands/ Edited: 2015-06-26, 23:32

Thanks Einstain, Few words about that map. It is very special one, because of method it was created with. It is created with this tool: https://github.com/Mindwerks/worldengine. Main procedure used here is simulation of earth plates movements. If you look at the screenshot, you can see that few of characteristics of landscape - f.e. long narrow gulfs, chains of islands - that are present also on our earth :). As for gameplay, the map is for three players - long playing game (mapsize 400x400). As soon as SirVer fixes the uploading I will repost is there Edited: 2015-06-27, 20:12

One hint, Tibor: Open the map file with any archive-program. The compression is standard zip. Minimap is in the main folder called "minimap.png" Use that next time einstein13 |

I did not know it. So this way I can verify that I set starting point in editor properly? Good to know... Top Quote |

I upgraded the server and with it the Widelands version installed on it. Map uploading is unbroken again and should work for all maps. Please let me know if there are more issues. Top Quote |
