My short time French teacher (no, I can’t speak nor read any French) told me that in handwritten texts you don’t use accents above capitals. That obviously doesn’t involve machinewritten texts. Though I don’t know what that article you posted does say on that matter. I just am curious if that’s true. So … Is it?

Two is the oddest prime.

People who say french uppercase/capitals doesnt not use accent, just do not understand french.

"A 3 heures" mean "have 3 hours"

"À 3 heures" mean "to 3 hours"

E is pronouced like in servEr (but is muted when at end of the word, and make syllabe with some other letters after, like N and R)

é in café is not pronounced like in servEr, and he is never muted

è is neither e or é, it's another sound/letter

ê have the same sound than è, but make different words! bète and bête exist and are not for the same meaning.

I suggest that you report your supposed "french teacher" to your educationnal system authority :p

Vassili: She's already retired... better stop talking about my French teacher, as I have an axe to grind here that could fill a page. Nice person, excellent speaker, but I had some problems with her teaching methods.

I always thought that the rule was weird for the exact reasons that you posted. Glad to hear it's a bunch of nonsense. I'm wondering whether she was just echoing whatever she herself was taught here - no internet back then, so researching stuff like this was less easy.

I got anouther suggestion for the French translation - change

Qui pourra construire la plus riche des économies ?

to :

Qui construira l'économie la plus florissante ?

If you like it, I'll change it.
