The easiest thing to implement would be to add a bit of generic text to the confirmation dialog when the user hits the upgrade button, without doing an extra military influence check. Busy indexing nil values Top Quote |

You are warned about that situation in the tutorial. That might be enough... And I don't think that discussions like this belong to this thread... As they are game suggestions, and they don't have to do anything with the tournament. Edited: 2016-12-01, 19:49

Well, there is a lot of information in the tutorials, the player might not remember. Busy indexing nil values Top Quote |

Ok. I think this information was marked as important (or even highly important), so it's not easy to forget it... But I don't care Wanted to save the world, then I got widetracked Top Quote |

I looked now the checkmate map removing all immovables. seems reasonably balanced to me. ok, it may look imbalanced looking at the steppe square that blue player has to his northwest, and its symmetrical that red has to his southeast; blue has more build spaces on it. but then, you look at other symmetrical squares, and red has more spaces on them. For example, the grassland that blue has to his norteast and red to southwest, there it is red who has more build space. while this tournament hardly has enough numbers to be statistically relevant, so far in 5 games the red player won 3 times. now, the map is probably a bit better for blue player. that's because grassland is a better terrain than steppe for planting trees, so blue player can make wood economy on his greenland plot and have many large spaces on his steppe plot, while red player has to choose whether to make wood economy where there would be good spaces for large buildings, or on mediocre growing terrain. but ultimately, there is plenty of space on the map, and this difference should not be relevant. Most balanced maps have little differences like that, the reason is that is is very difficult to make a perfectly balanced map. by the way, i assign the colors by trying to alternate between players, so one who had blue can expect to find himself with red and viceversa. in this case, both me and toptopple had made the first turn with red, so i rolled a dice to decide who was gonna get blue. if toptopple had remained, he would have gotten blue for sure his next round. Yeah, the rules can take care of someone leaving. have fun with your real life. But curse you, you'll ruin my bucholz that way If you change your mind, you have time until i make the next turn to reverse your decision. Top Quote |

I have a merge request up for adding some more information to the confirmation message if the building to be enhanced is a military site. It says "Be careful if the enemy is near!" - this should suffice to make players aware of the issue without annoying them with a long explanation. Edited: 2016-12-02, 08:09
