I am curious and would like to see campaign maps in their entirety. in particular, on the atlantean campaign you never get to explore the whole island before you trigger the flooding, and I would like to see what's the island like. and in the second frisian maps there are areas you cannot explore. but i cannot find the campaing maps in the folder. in fact, i cannot find anything about the campaign in the widelands folder. the campaign folder only contains one single file for one line.

is there a way for me to sate my curiosity?

The maps of campaigns are shipped with the game, so they are in the datafolder data/campaigns/ of the installation. Either copy them to the folder .widelands/maps/My_Maps or open them on a commandline:

./widelands --editor=/FULL/PATH/TO/MAP.wmf

In case this helps someone, for my installation in Linux Mint 21.1 (probably similar in ubuntu), the widelands campaign maps are in the following directory:

/usr/share/games/widelands/data/campaigns/
and the user maps (where you copy campaign maps to to edit them) are in the following directory (replace USERNAME with your user name on the OS)
/home/USERNAME/.local/share/widelands/maps/My_Maps/
