Plus, it might be hard to organize a match for 8 players. It's not a drama if the tournament just contains 1v1 matches
that is true and it might be a fallback solution if it would not be possible to have such a match, but I would be really sad if we would not be able to have it. We never had such a match and we would write widelands history if it will work.

Btw it might be also good to test a map where it's not necessary to make a naval invasion. To see how the strategy "naval invasion" compares to "land invasion".
@Teayo: What about the maps which I've suggested?

No, it doesn't, it shouldnt give points. Maybe just Buchholz. And the playtime could be shorter, too.
Ok, It would have been easier, if you provided some rational, why we shouldn't win points. But I guess it is due to the usage of diplomacy. This sounds reasonable so I'll change it to just give Buchholz resulting in 4, 3.5, 3, 2.5 Bucholz for the first 4 places.
For the playtime I realized from the test matches that it may take some time in such a constellation until the the war ships really come into action. So I thought this to be a good time at least for some players to leave the map.
If you get 50% of the map earlier it will be finished earlier anyway.
Yes, diplomacy makes it kind of imbalanced, so its not necessarily fair if the winner gets points.

Ok I just chose the maps for round 0 (the Battle Royale) and round 1.
I included the rules for the battle royale as well in the rules. ( se post #3)
Positions for round 0 will be drawn after setting the date.

I have now added my completed map "Far small islands" to my map collection addon along with the other unfinished maps.
I don't want to propose unfinished maps for the tournament, so I'm withdrawing my candidate map proposals for the remaining unfinished maps.
The reason for this is that these maps are not ready before the tournament starts.
Map is in Addon Version : 2

Hi! I would like to participate. However, I have a problem with freedesktop.Platform version and so I can't somehow get the beta version installed. I'm using flathub-beta repo. When trying, it says that org.freedesktop.Platform/x86_64/21.08 runtime can not be found. However, when flatpak lists installed versions, I have 20.08, 21.08 and 22.08 installed on user level. I suppose they're all x86_64 versions.

I suppose you also have the main flathub repo enabled if you have these runtimes installed? The runtimes have to be installed from there. I've just checked, and 21.08 is still available there (even got an update yesterday).
On my system it also pulled in org.freedesktop.Platform.GL.default, org.freedesktop.Platform.VAAPI.Intel and org.freedesktop.Platform.openh264.
Also I suppose you try to install Widelands with --user too?

Well, if we are more than 8 participants i could imagine to skip the diplomacy match (so a bigger map is not necessary?) - and I wouldn't insist on the forfeit in the next round neither.
