Sometimes I play a random map, and decide later that I'd like to play again on the same map - but I can't recreate it because I don't know the random number or the map ID. So those glorious random maps are lost forever, and I'll never find out if I would have won if xyz; and I'll never be able to restart as a different tribe or whatever. That's sucks. face-sad.png

I could get in the habit of copying down the map id of every random map before I start just in case I want to use it again, but I think it would be better if there was an easy way to just get the map id while in-game, or from the description of a save file.

I have a few ideas of how it could be done. I don't think the exact way is super important. I just think there should be a way to see the map ID after starting the game. (Maybe there is already a way, but I couldn't find it.)

Here are a couple of ideas:

  • Include the map id in the map name. So instead of being called "Random Map", it would be called something like "Random Map ksrh-beuk-1dxp-9u1s-9ne8-3axu". This map name is visible when loading save files.
  • Include map info in the "objectives" window in-game. That window could have some general information about the game, such as the fact that its a random map, the settings used, and the map id. (And in non-random games, it could say what stage of a campaign you are in or whatever other general map info might be relevant.)
