Not quite sure what you mean but you can navigate your expedition ship until you reached the port space you want to.

Where's MY gold?

I have two ingots in stock. They're not in the Headquarters, they're not at either of the two ports I've built and they're in neither the War Mill (the axe making one, not the cloth making one. Someone really needs to sort that out) nor the Helmsmith. Nor are they anywhere to be seen on the road.

Is vanishing gold a common bug?

perhaps they are into an expedition ship?

or you didn't mention the helmsmithy. or perhaps you simply missed them on the road. or they may be in another warehouse.

we can't track single resources like that. but we never had any report of wares vanishing

and your picture does not show if the gold is in the ship, or or in a helmsmithy, or along the road. have you checked the ship?

If you really can't find your gold anywhere, I'd suggest you saved the game and demolished everything (buildings and roads) while keeping an eye on the stock window. If the stock decreases after destroying something you'll know the gold was there. This way you can't miss anything - only the Headquarters and ship cargo will remain.

Also remember to check all tabs in the port window when checking a port.

It was in one of my ships which seemed to have been loaded for an expedition from the wrong port.

No. The common bug would be that the gold (or other wares) stays forever on a flag after loading a game. (Build 20 and newer)

There's also starting the game as a Trading Outpost, which gives you 14 gold up front. But that feels like cheating.

It's mentioned in the starting window that Trading Outpost will get "essential wares refurnished", and it wasn't clear whether it would be a one-time refurbishing (which I certainly could do with !) or a permanent refurbishing (which certainly looked like cheating).

Also, concerning this map "Together we're strong", I can't find the gold, even after landing on the second island.

Even landing on it around 50 minutes, at four hours of play I don't have found a single real gold ore (I do build a few mines on generic mountain land, but it's not enough production to build an army) and I lose.

Without spoiling its location, could you tell me if there's something specific to do to find it ?

Especially, if it's out of the path (I mean, on mountain land that is not added to the territory by building towers) or if I just need to explore better ?

By the way, from my exploration, there are only two port spaces on this island; so basically if a player is able to occupy them before the other player, it's game over I think ? (well, unless this player is me and unable to explore quickly enough, of course)

Some wares get refurbished all the time. If a ware gets low (0 i guess) it will be filled up.

Just load the map in the widelands editor before playing will show you where the gold is

Yes, if a player occupies both port spaces the other player has probably lost. With naval warefare enabled there is a chance to conquer a port space of the opponent.
