While searching a forum post about how the search function works, I noticed that searching ”search“ [0] results in a loading loop (the browser is trying loading the page, but stays at 0 %; I tried two browsers [1]).

Indeed I'd like to know whether the search function supports wildcards.

Probably because the term "search" can't be found. But at least with your post the search should find "search" soon (when the search index will be updated, i think this task will happen over night).

AFAIK wildcards aren't supported by the search tools we are using (this is haystack in combination with whoosh ). There is a little help when using the search, which can be found by clicking on "Help" on the search page.
