You've described the 10 point voting system very well. You've expressed why I like it, as I had written I kind of like it, but it was hard to formulate the why by myself.

I think intelligent players of a game like Widelands can be expected to have enough brains to use a 10 point vote system.

You have not only WL players present here, but IT guys as well. Or combination of both, which means the top of human evolution. But for those, who belong to just one of these categories, 10 point system should be fine.
