Topic: Amazon : Rare trees

I wasn't sure where to write this : For all who missed this information, it seems that rare trees grow on most soil where other trees don't. It is suggested on a couple of places, but I have played a lot of Amazon (I play mostly random) And I only learned that today by skimming the site/forum. So I guess that's
Knowing that would have made my game easier yesterday, thankfully I still won XD Generally speaking, it would be great if the tree growth factor for different soil would be accessible in-game. Untill now I always had to open the editor to get some partial information. Edit : I just did some tests, they definitely don't grow to adult size on all terrains. Now I'm unsure what to think. desert 4 didn't produce adult rare trees, but did have some young ones that dissapered before growing. Edit 2 : after more test, I got one mature/old balsa tree on desert 4, after 2h of game time (sped up game with one rare tree plantation and the headquarters) the rest dies at the pole stage at most. dry soil is a bit better. I guess the answer, like all answers, is to be found in the source code ^^ but if someone have it ready on the top of their mind, I'll take that Edited: Yesterday 18:23

The growth percentage is accessible through encyclopedia, you can find it in immovables folder. No need to use editor. I personally never had a problem with not knowing where to build a rare tree plantation. Top Quote |

Damn, one clic away from where I was looking ! thank you. seems like the trees are not that different from normal trees, But after a look at the growth percentage, I understand what I understood wrong. So basically what I wrote was wrong, they work more or less (but rather more) like normal trees. I had building space problems yesterday, and for a short time today I thought I could have built rare trees where normal trees wouldn't grow, but that's not the case. Everything makes sense again! The surprise is actually that farms, etc, grow anywhere. Only trees need the "good" soil. Well the right soil for their type. There are some odd tree types that pretty much only grow on one type. One type of palm prefers to grow in water. Not sure what that's all about. Maybe seeds can germinate on water terrain, dunno. This game's still 80% a mystery to me, heh. -- |
