I've been reading a lot of the older posts of late, and had a laugh at the humoir in some of them
so I started this thread so people could share some of the silly or funny ways they either have actually lost
a game ( either against humans or AI) or won one through fortunate but silly mistakes.

For me , it was the other day when I was playing Twisted Paths against 3 'Normal' AI players, I didn't expect them to win so I slackened off. The funny thing for me is that I know the map, but didn't watch what was happening closely
and got 'smoked' by the amazons, who I had set up in the 'green' starting position. I got a laugh out of the obsurdity of it as
I'm the one who created the map so should have known to take note of what green and yellow were doing. .
Now this may not be all that funny, but I am sure there are others who have tales where they have won or lost and
had a laugh along the way, or maybe it is something that the game has done that was out of the usual.
Anyway, the floor is yours, tell us some funny tales and I may have more later on ...

Well, my most common way to lose is to get distracted in Multiplayer by chat or military news and to forget a crucial building in the economy. Although knowing all possible deadlocks very well as develeoper I still get deadlocked from time to time.

Me neither! ; ) Well, actually us Canadians are pretty fluent on the version of English the southern invaders speak.

Curious though, I suppose you're joking around, but I just wanna check... loose does mean the opposite of tight in AUS too, or is this something amazing I never knew?

As for dictionaries... well I got an old Oxford from my dad and that has the King's English but I also have a 20 pound Webster's (from my uncle) that has them 'mericans spellings. Is there actually such a thing as a Australian dictionary??? I don't think there are any Canadian ones.

Ooof, you got this dictionary nerd started on something now, hahaha...

I was actually joking about 'loose' being lose, and yes there is an australian dictionary full of our version of english, which I suppose is closer to canadian than american,
though we of course, have our own slang. Though across my entire country, we actually have only one dialect with only some localised variations, though they are small and easy to figure oot.
If ever you come to Australia, you would pretty much find yourself at home speaking english, there is not a lot of variance.
May Canada forever be free..

Oot and aboot. That's canadian dialect although I've only seen it on TV, never heard it in person.

Actually Canadian as a variant does seem to exist on my PC. I've used the option to install it. Mind that's new. In the oldest days it was just english or german or french, etc. If at all!

The candian english is actually more of a hybrid of the Queen's English and American. Inevitably there's been some seepage from south of the border. One example seems to be words like capitalize. That's American & Canadian while the Brits spell it capitalise. OTOH we canucks have fiercely stuck to spelling colour with a u.

Oot and aboot ? That sounds like scottish, or if you understand this reference, Mac Nac Feegle ( thanks to Terry Pratchet)

We spell colour the same way, must be from our english colonists all those years ago
I use a hybrid of american english ( for the keyboard) Australian spelling and UK for grammar ( which I am useless at)
As a country with no neighbiurs on our landmass, we seem to have held our own variant of english fairly well with little seepage
from new zealand, though thier english is very similar to our;s. I suppose in a way that's a good thing, as it makes our version more
standard across my country,

If I am playing against my family on our home network, I have lost against my wife because of the silly messages she sends me.
These things can be distracting, and like yourself, I have forgotten to build a crucial military building in the right place and one of
my grown up kids will seize the opportunity. I swear my family gang up on me , even going so far as to send distracting messages
to throw me off my game. As I don't have a fast internet connection these days, I dont't get to play multi-player games over the internet and have to settle for local network games, which are enjoyable even if i lose
