Thanks.

Is the available amount of resource stored in each field available even when there's another mine on top of it ?

That is, if I build one iron mine in the center of a six-wide field of iron, you wrote that this iron mine will have access to the seven fields (the six around it and the one it is on top of).

But what happens if I build gold mines (in a situation where there is no gold ore) on some of the adjacent mine emplacements ? Will the iron underneath it still be accessible to the iron mine ?

Yes, resources in the ground are always available to all buildings whose work area contains the field, even if there's any building or other obstacle on the surface.

Just a quick question on this, are there any firm figures for what material is consume by the various tribes to produce iron and gold ?

As a finished resource is what I mean, the data in the online help seems to be not consistent with my observations, as I have found that the barbarians seem to produce 1 iron from 2 ore and 2 coal.I could be wrong, but this seems to be what's happening.
I am using the git 1.3 release build.( not 100% sure of it's hexnumber or date) . The same thing seems to happen with gold as well.
Now it's been awhile since I checked the ingame help, but from what I remeber, the ratio was 1 ore & 1 coal produced 1 iron or gold Some help here please..

the ratio is 1 iron or gold from 1 ore and one coal. only thing is in one complete cycle we produce 2 times iron and 1 time gold.

Thanks, I checked it while playing last night and found the same thing. Show's I should have paid more attention to what was going on before I posted the question. I'll observe more from now on BEFORE i ask dumb questions.
