Hi. Just started playing this game with my S2 experience and I noticed my lumberjack huts were empty. I had axes but I had no lumberjacks left. I searched for some information on how to get more workers but there is none in manual I guess. How do I get more lumberjacks then?

Hi Servitaus and welcome to the forums face-smile.png

Workers are "made" on demand if:

  • the needed tool is in a warehouse
  • if the tool is missing, a worker and building who create tools is needed
  • the building requiring the worker is connected with the road system

Hope this helps. If this does not help, please provide information about the used widelands version and where do you get it from.

Yeah, I was missing felling axe. So many axes I couldn't find the one.

felling axes are produced by metal workshops or toolmakers, depending on the tribe. If you are missing one, check that the
toolmaker has both iron and wood.

I have discovered a "trick" to get new workers a little quicker. Sometimes when a worker doesn't seem to exist I go to the Headquarters and click on the worker I need and change the green arrow at the bottom of the window that chooses to "Preferably store the the selected wares here". I leave this worker highlighted with the Green arrow until the "Missing Worker" problem has gone away.

Another "speed up" trick is to open the window of a production worker such as "Tool Smithy" and with the shift key pressed, use the mouse on the < and > icons to reduce and increase the wares held. This seems to "Wake up" the worker so they start to produce their products.

This trick is very useful when the building says "Did not start because xxx is not needed" when there is definitely none of the named products available.

Changing the wares held with the shift key pressed, and using the mouse on the < and > icons to reduce and increase the wares held will solve many issues where the workers seem to have "fallen asleep"

Neither of the "tricks" described by Lawrence really helps to create any wares any quicker.
One posibility to always get the worker you need instantly, is to set the economy demand of each tool to 1 or 2. This will result in the toolsmith producing that set amount of tools to be always on stock.
