Ok I have updated my bazaar branch! Now with a mine icon and semi-transparence (75 %).

And of course a preview (in game) ;):

The icons ingame

Can be found in /final/version_4

EDIT: Ahh, I forgot to say: They are now cropped.

Nice work! I like the transparency effect :) But for that case, you should modify the flag - one can hardly identify the lower end of the flagpole, i.e. where it touches the ground. And the mine icons are also a bit too pale - at least for my eyes and on my screen ;) But the other build helper icons look really cool.

Modified the flagpole image that it is at the right place and better noticeable:

I have not actually checked, but I think the new mines icon is hard to see in blackland. Have you tried there?

I agree with Astuur - quite possible, that it is hard to see on blackland maps - however I like the general look and although I was a bit biased regarding the transparency, I think I already like them more than the current one ;).

Good work!

Ahh, while you are working on it: If you find some time, please create an icon for "port buildspaces" - they will hopefully be needed after release of build16 face-smile.png

Yes of course. The mine icons are really hard noticeable but to be honest I have not really an idea of how to make them better noticeable. Does anyone have an idea? White outline doesn't work really well. I would be very grateful.

Regarding the sea port icon: It is on the to do list. face-wink.png

Well, what about blue mine icons?

@ fraang: I, also like the transparencies a great deal. The gray mine icons are a challenge especially when placed over gray ground textures. We have similar difficulties with the road textures. Venatrix's suggestion of using a color that would contrast with all of the various mountain textures is worth exploring.
I have created some terrain palettes for each of the worlds and will push them to the media branch ASAP. They should ease the process of judging the visibility of objects against the different terrains. I'll post here when the palettes are accessible.

For "port buildspaces", I think something along the line of a ship's anchor would be ideal. Don't you? face-smile.png

I just had an idea about the transparency visibility: It should be possible to make the boundary of the icons less transparent than their interior (perhaps even fully opaque). Making the outline more visible could help the overall perception. Note that I haven't tried it, it was just a random idea.

And I agree about using anchors for port spaces, they convey the notion very cleanly. What about a combination of "large building" and "anchor" to get the idea across that you really build a building there, not just an anchor? face-wink.png
