huh, potential problem here: I tried to play collector, and after 4 hours (at the moment to give the final result) the game crashed. it did so with 7454, but it did the same with 7442, and i didn't report the bug then in the hope it would have been fixed in the new version. Would not be good to have a game crashing in the end. on the up side, since the points are calculated in the statistics, we can still see the result, so it will not be an insurmontable problem. I'm opening a bug report now. Top Quote |

It only happens when you play as the only player. As soon as you have an AI or another human player, widelands does not crash and everything works as expected. Top Quote |

I disagree. My last tournament game was with 3 other people and the game crashed too. More: it crashed few times during the gametime! einstein13 |

Ok, but this is a different story. At least with more than one player the final window from collectors mode was visible in my test games. Top Quote |

The final replays are online. Do you have a clue why the final game crashed so often? It would be nice to have a bug report for this to improve it in the future. Top Quote |

I really don't know why. From one point in time debug/error messages are deleted (in that case). So when Widelands crashed, there is no information what happened. For sure it is with UI, not engine of the game (because not all players, but only one had problems) einstein13 |

in single player it did not crash that often, but it still crashed after the 4 hours. there is a bug report about that. also, it may be unrelated, but it was damn hard to find an host. none of us could host, and we had to rely on einstein to host for us Anyway, I'm now looking forward to the next tournament Edited: 2015-05-08, 02:12

Do you know if the widelands executive crashed on one of the PC's, or players were disconnected because of network issues, or game stopped as a result of a desync? If it was a plain normal crash, then we could try a test play with everybody playing on top of debugger, to get a stack trace. With disconnects and desyncs the flow would be different. Top Quote |

I cannot tell you that, but I crashed 2 times and it was exactly at the moment when the status message about the points came in. I just saw it poping up and I crashed. But I think it was different when cyber crashed later on. He crashed 3 or 4 times in a short period of time. So I think there were different reasons. We had also different hosts (whytrytofly and einstein) and it crashed with both. So it wasn't the host machine either. Top Quote |

There was an obvious risk that some were using 7454 (then-newest Tino's windows build) and others 7455 (those who compile from trunk themselves). The commit message of 7455 mentions calculating statistics. Maybe somebody was accidentally using a different version, and this triggered a desync? Top Quote |
