Hi there,

we are using images for the news categories, which are mixed in style and partly do not fit to the style of the homepage. If you have ideas, or, even better, ready to use images, the images will be exchanged.

Here is a table of categories and the used images so far:

Category Image Used for / Note
Developers Developers Information about people who develop
Development development Information about the on going development process
Feature Freeze feature freeze Information about, well, feature freezes
Release release Information about a new release
Public Relations public relations This was formerly called 'Press' but i thought 'Public Relations' is better
Tournament tournament Information about tournaments
Website website This category will be omitted. The current entries will be switched to a new category, see below.
Homepage homepage Information about changes to the Homepage

I want to create also another category called 'Call to action', or similar, which will be used for things where YOU could participate, like polls, map contests, and other things. A new image is wanted here also.

The images should have a maximum width of 150px. Preferred are svg, but png's do also work.

Well, images that fit in style and that we already have are of course the game graphics. I can imagine a working builder or a smith for development, a winter landscape for feature freeze, something from the message system for PR, and one of the headquarters for the homepage. Maybe for tournament we could use the tribes' road flags, I think they look nicer? No idea for release.

Why is there an imperial warehouse? Is that where developers are stored? face-wink.png

What about an atlantean spider farm for website? It's a productionsite which contains spiderwebs ...

When using in game images, i fear useless discussions about "Why do you choose Atlanteans Buildngs/Workers/Soldiers? Barbarians are much nicer!!!!"

Just found some images in our media repo. I guess they are made by our old elder of graphics Chuck Wilder, many thanks to him! I resized them and uploaded them to the bug News: Reordering, cleanups.

The original filename shows where this file were meant to be used, but i think some of them do fit also for other things. Show them here without any comment from my side:

It would be nice if the column in 'DevelopmentNews.png' would be exchanged with the widelands logo. This could be used then for the category 'Development' face-smile.png Some one with experience in blender could do this work? The blend files for this images can also be found in the media repo (see link above)

'WiHack_News.png' would fit with category 'Developers'.
'Release_Download.png' would fit with category 'Release'.
'General_News_logo2.png' would fit to both categories 'Call to Action' or 'Public Relations'...
'WebsiteNews.png' would fit with category Website.
For the category 'Tournament' i am not sure.

I love 'Media_News.png', unfortunately there is no category for this image face-sad.png
