As the release of Widelands 1.1 is drawing closer, let's sweeten the waiting time until the last bugs are fixed by topping each other who can produce the most beautiful screenshots showing off the latest goodies.

The rules are the same as in the previous competition:

  • Install a recent development build (or a pull request branch targeted for v1.1).

  • Create a beautiful fogless game, or a nice screenshot that well illustrates a new feature.

  • Use F11 to take a screenshot.1 See the Technical FAQ or the new Technical Info section in the About window on where to find the file.

  • The screenshot should have a 16:9 aspect ratio, and should have a width that is no smaller than 620px. For more information on the format and further guidelines, visit freedesktop.org and search the page for screenshots/.

  • Upload the screenshot and a savegame as an attachment to a post under this topic. Add a title and description for the image to the post.

All screenshots that are of sufficient quality will be published in our Screenshots section on the homepage.

  1. Note that the hotkey is configurable :)

appdata.xml should be updated with a selection of the submissions. It still uses screenshots mostly from Build 19, and one from Build 20.

Here's one showing the new features in the editor: tool history and show max buildspaces

editor new features

(oops, I've just realised that 1920x1080 is not needed... I'll make a smaller one too then)

No worry, 1920×1080 is fine. Uploaded it face-smile.png

Looks very good, especially with all the harbor areas - maybe we can make harbor or sea fearing gameplay even more relevant in multiplayer games

Sea fearing? As in, not building any ships? face-wink.png

OK, here's a 1280x720 version with the editor features where the interesting parts are actually visible. face-smile.png

editor new features - this time actually visible

Assuming that @the-x's comment refers to the map, I uploaded it as https://www.widelands.org/maps/flori-1v1/

I haven't played it yet, but if it is, as it seems, a nice little 1vs1 map, maybe

https://www.widelands.org/maps/flori-1v1/

could also be an option as a map for the tournament?

My first thought was the same. However I am not sure whether the map is balanced enough

Could you create a tool for the map editor that just mirrors parts of an existing map?
