Well I had a look at all the proposed maps:
1. Plateau (suggested above) would be fine if we could introduce a barrier between the 2 halfs of the map, but I have no time to do this.
2. I would have loved to use one of the small far side mipd by @teayo but at least in the addon they are missing trees rocks and game so they are not suited in this state. maybe in the next round if @teayo might find time to add the missing ressources.
3. So I came back to Naval Ice wars from the addon. However this is very big for 2 players. So I thought we could use HQ hunter as win condition.

So if nobody objects with a good reasonm the next round will be a

HQ hunter match

on

I attached a modified version, please check if this would be OK for a later round

Naval Ice Wars

Hm, this map seems to have a few balancing issues when naval warfare is the focus. For instance whether the port space flag faces towards the sea or towards the HQ makes a difference in how efficiently it can be defended. Red vs orange seems the most equal in this regard, but red has to expand much further from the HQ to reach the port space than orange. So which player positions do you have in mind?

I know I'm just an outsider, but to make it different from the previous rounds, I'd suggest that the HQ's should be moved inside the islands, far from port spaces on both maps. We should see the balancing when players actually have a chance to build up a strong economy before they have to fight back naval invasions.

On the edited version of Plateau it is no longer possible to invade the protected valleys from the Northern tip of the middle bay. I think the passages should be widened a little there, to require defences there too. And Plateau also needs much more coal to not disadvantage the classical tribes.

I vote for HQ hunter on Naval Ice wars, but I don't think that ochre vs red is balanced. Maybe ochre vs green is better? Red portspace is quite far from red HQ, green seems to be more similar to ochre.

I don't recommend it because players could settle on the same island, then its not about naval....

I will forbid this in the rules. Will make the pre announcement with map, pairings start and winconditions now, but we might wait for anew version with additional fixes.
