I updated the flatpak definition to the current stable of the runtime (20.08) and boost (1.76), and removed python2.7 (python3 is in the runtime). It's available at https://github.com/tothxa/org.widelands.Widelands in the So far it seems to work fine, and there is even an improvement: you get a nice mouse pointer in hardware mode too. I submitted a pull request to flathub-beta. The test build is available at https://dl.flathub.org/build-repo/45552/org.widelands.Widelands.flatpakref
(as in Now I should really get back to translating, but if this is accepted, then when I next update it, I'll also try removing the lua submodule — as far as I know, Widelands includes its own version…

A new development version is committed to flathub-beta, it will be published in a few hours. The runtime is updated to the brand new 21.08, so it needs an up to date host system. I know (because I got bitten) that it doesn't work on Debian buster, because the required OpenGL version is 4.6, and buster only provides 4.5. You can check your version with

A new development version is available on flathub-beta. flathub-beta versions now use the 21.08 version of the freedesktop.org runtime, which needs an up to date host system.
